    Rossi: MotoGP Musim Ini Membosankan

Philip Island MotoGP: Casey Stoner thrilled with flying start in Phillip Island

Casey Stoner was thrilled after he made a dream start in his quest to win a sixth successive home race at Phillip Island today.

The 27-year-old defied a lack of strength and mobility in the right ankle he first injured in Indianapolis to finish almost 0.9s ahead of Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner, who is making his final Phillip Island appearance before he retires next month, set a best time of 1.29.999 and he said that he was thrilled to have started off his home race weekend in such stunning form but surprised the chasing pack had not been closer.

The double MotoGP world champion said: “I saw everybody going on new soft tyres and I was expecting them to really close gap or get in front of me because there is a huge difference between a new tyre and old. But I was considerably faster than them with close to race distance on the tyre because if we had put on a soft we could have gone a big step faster. So this was very positive. I never have expectations but to get into the 29s on the first day, I'm pretty happy because I did that with the hard tyre. Nobody else was running the hard tyre, so we found some extra pace of everybody. We still have a lot of work to do to get the harder tyre to work a little more comfortably. We found it dropping off quite quickly and this should be something that happens with the soft tyre and not the hard.  We still have a lot of work to do to get this bike working a little smoother. There are a lot of bumps and it is making it difficult. Everything came to me pretty quickly. I was pretty quick to get on the pace and I didn't expect to end up with the lap times we did, but it seems the track conditions aren't so bad.”

Valencia MotoGP: Pedrosa prevails with tyre change

        MotoGP
         11 November 2012 13:49
Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has won at Valencia today in tricky conditions which saw riders roll up to the grid on a mix of wet and slick tyres.
With the track drying Pedrosa, Cal Crutchlow, Nicky Hayden and Alvaro Bautista opted to change from wets to slicks and start the race from pit lane.
2012 champion Jorge Lorenzo was the only front runner to start the race on slick tyres, struggling to get away from the line.
Aprilia CRT rider Aleix Espargaro was the surprise leader over the first few laps on wet tyres, but he soon dropped a couple of places before changing to slick tyres.
Lorenzo's gamble paid off as his tyres came up to temperature and the Spaniard soon took to the front. Pedrosa and Crutchlow quickly worked their way through the field, with Pedrosa quickly catching Lorenzo by the half way stage.
With 16 laps to go, Lorenzo caught up to several back markers. He tried to pass James Ellison round the outside and in the process ran on to the wet tarmac, being thrown off the high side of the bike.
This pushed Pedrosa in to the lead ahead of Yamaha test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga and Crutchlow.
Crutchlow then passed Nakasuga to take second position, but crashed on the brakes going in to the final corner with just seven laps remaining.

Jorge Lorenzo claimed victory at the opening round of the MotoGP season in Qatar as Casey Stoner's challenge faded under the lights of the Losail circuit.
The Yamaha rider Lorenzo started from pole and led for the opening laps before Stoner's Honda powered past to take a lead that the reigning champion did not look like relinquishing until the latter stages.
After establishing a cushion of around two seconds at the front Stoner's bid fell apart in the closing laps as the physical toll of the race hit his hopes and dropped him to an eventual third-placed finish.
Stoner revealed afterwards that he had been suffering from "arm pump", a condition common among motorcycle racers that causes muscular swelling in the arm as a consequence of gripping the handlebars.
The problem first dropped him behind Lorenzo into second, and then to third at the flag as his team-mate Dani Pedrosa swept past to claim the runner-up spot. Fourth place went to Britain's Cal Crutchlow.
Lorenzo was happy to take the victory, however it came about, and was delighted to make a perfect start after Stoner claimed the championship from him last season.
"I put everything I have into the track," Lorenzo said. "Casey was very strong at the beginning, opened a gap. Lucky for us he dropped his pace. I'm very grateful to Yamaha. They did a big job this winter."
Stoner looked well set for victory after battling back from the shock of seeing Pedrosa beat him into the first corner despite the Spaniard starting seventh on the grid.
